The House of Minalima
Do you even live in London if you don't follow The Londonist? Half my bucket list is made up from things I have seen on their videos. When I saw their video featuring a completely free Harry Potter exhibition right near me in Soho, I couldn't resist seeing what it was about.
This creaky, rusty house is on Greek Street, and from the outside is so colourful and cute in contrast to the more dull buildings around (especially because I went during Pride Week, hence the rainbow flag). Eduardo Lima and Miraphora Mina (hence Minalima) worked on the graphics for Harry Potter, and in this house showcase some of their work.
The house is 3 floors of exhibits, and it's exactly how you'd imagine the house to be- with creaky and narrow staircases, it feels like you're in the cupboard under the stairs with Harry.
As you walk into the house, you are warmly greeted by the staff and a room full of Harry Potter merchandise- prints, postcards, books, Hogwarts acceptance letters- everything you could possibly want. They also have a floor covered with Harry's acceptance letters, which was pretty cool.
On Monday and Tuesday they have guided tours so you can't go around the house by yourself, but actually that worked out so much better. The staff there are sooo knowledgable and friendly- they know they've got the best jobs ever.
So we went upstairs and started our guided tour- I would definitely recommend a tour as they tell you a lot about the history of the production of the props and also more about Harry Potter - did you know Harry's fortune came from his grandfather, who developed the Sleekaezy Hair Potion?
One of my favourite parts was the wall filled with framed prints of the Daily Prophet. It was cool to see how the design of the paper changes over time, and how much detail the articles go into.
But my absolute favourite was on the next floor up, which consisted of a floor entirely made of The Maurader's Map. It had so many fine details and was just amazing to see it blown up so big to cover an entire floor of a room.
They also have the real props that they used in the films - we obviously couldn't touch them but it was cool to see them through the glass. I always thought the packaging for chocolate frogs was really cool.

I don't want to give too much of the magic away, so I won't say much more about what's in the house. But I will say that I really liked it and would definitely recommend to any Harry Potter fans!!
