The Dulux Colour Run: The Happiest 5K

Apologies for not posting in weeks (revision took over my life), but exams are finally over so I am back! To celebrate the end of exams, I spent last weekend in London, where I did The Color Run at Wembley Park. I've wanted to do a colour run for aaaages, and this year I finally made to effort to actually sort it out.

Looking at many colour run photos gave me high hopes for the actual thing, and I was not disappointed- it was SO much fun (and the weather was perfect). Here are some things you should expect/tips if you do ever do a colour run:

1) WEAR WHITE !!!!!

2) Get there early- there are 20,000 people doing the Wembley run and they let groups of runners start at a time. If you're late and at the back you will end up having to wait AGES to actually start running.

2) Wear sunglasses- it keeps the colour out of your eyes (and the sun). Failing that, keep your eyes closed every time the colour is thrown at you. Also, keep your mouth shut every time you run past the stations, otherwise you'll end up coughing and having very very dry lips for the rest of the week!

3) Have a plastic bag/bum bag to put your phone in, because the colour gets EVERY WHERE, including between your phone and the case. I learnt the hard way-bye bye phone case. Still, gives me an excuse to buy a new one (or two...)

4) Don't be put off if you're a slow runner, it's not a timed race and there were so many people walking it. Besides, it's better to go slow when you go past the colour stations, that's the best way to get covered.

5) Bring as little as possible with you. There are no storage facilities to put your things, so you'll end up having to carry everything with you while you're running, so either leave everything at home or leave your things with family/friends.

6) Stay for the finish festival!! This seems pretty obvious, but a lot of people left straight after. I honestly thought the festival was the best bit- there was a Capital FM DJ and it was just like a massive party. It's also the best place to meet and dance with other runners.

7) Save the packet of colour you get at the end of the run for the festival. Every 15 minutes at the festival, they have 'colour throws', which is when everyone throws their powder up at the same time, it's amazing! I tried to take a photo, but as you'll see the quality is not great ...

So there's the Color Run in a nut shell. It was such a great experience, and I would recommend everyone to do it at some point- you will LOVE it. It is definitely the happiest 5k!
